Intelligent cash optimization across bank branches
Forecasting each branch's cash needs to free up idle capital, without compromising availability for customers.

The context
Every day, bank branches must hold enough cash to meet customer withdrawals. To limit the risk of running short, some keep reserves well above their actual needs.
Take a network of 100 branches, each holding $500,000 in cash on average: $50 million is tied up to support daily operations.
Yet needs differ from one branch to another. A branch in a commercial district may see heavy demand on Fridays, while another regularly holds excess cash.
The solution
A solution built on historical withdrawal data, seasonal trends, holidays and cash movements to forecast each branch's needs.
An analytics engine proposes right-sized reserve levels, flags surpluses and recommends transfers or adjustments, validated against operational rules.
Potential impact (modeled scenario)
- Cash initially held
- $50M
- Target reserve reduction
- 15%
- Cash freed up
- $7.5M
Assumptions: 100 branches × $500,000 on average = $50M; 15% target reserve reduction. For illustration, a 3% additional net return on the $7.5M freed up would represent $225,000 in potential annual value, before transport, liquidity, risk and implementation costs.
Illustrative impact based on modeled scenarios: the figures shown are simulations, not measured results.
What changes
By freeing part of its reserves without compromising cash availability, the bank can redeploy that capital to other activities.
This project shows automation that does more than save hours of work: it directly improves how financial resources are used.
